Project Description

Natural Laundry Soap is not only easy-to-make and has fewer non-natural chemicals, it’s economical and will save you a ton.  Not to mention the lower impact to the environment from not buying a new container every month.  The following three ingredients include Borax, Washing Soda and Castille Bar Soap, are 99% natural (coming direct from the Earth), with the last 1% accounting for the necessary soap processing ingredients that is rendered off during curing.  Borax is a natural mineral and Washing Soda is a combination of sodium carbonate and soda ash made from common salt and limestone.  Castille Soap (we use Kirk’s Natural Castile Soap) is made from coconut oils and glycerin.  Please share your natural cleaning recipes here for the PH Community, and check out our Natural Cleaning Products list of common household ingredients.

Ingredients
  1. 1 Bar Soap (Castile Soap or Ivory are good choices)
  2. 1 Cup Borax
  3. 1 Cup Washing Soda
  4. 20 drops Lavender or other Essential Oils (optional)
Instructions
  1. Grate the bar soap until finely ground. If you use primarily cold water for washing, see note below.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.
  3. Store in closed container. We used an old protein powder container, and the scoop was perfect for marking the perfect portion.
  4. Use 2Tbsp per load of laundry.
  5. Note: If you use primarily cold water for washing and find that your soap pieces are too large to dissolve, add 2Tbsp baking powder and run the mix through the blender until pieces are a fine powder.
